چکیده

The purpose of this retrospective study was to analyze changes in the position condyles following mandibular setback surgery with manual guidance. included 28 patients prognathism who underwent using guidance a bioabsorbable mesh for fixation, and center condylar head were compared at three time points: before (T0), within 1 week after (T1), 6 months (T2). results showed significant lateral, anterior, inferior movements condyle T1 T0, an average movement 0.66 ± 0.84 mm along x-axis, −1.27 0.82 y-axis, −0.20 0.69 z-axis, 1.77 0.87 linear distance (p < 0.05). At T2, had mainly changed inferiorly y-axis (−0.17 0.48 mm) 0.05) that T0. change x-axis (−0.14 0.57 mm), z-axis (−0.05 0.68 (0.85 T2 not significantly different from T0 > suggests anterior–lateral–inferior occurs guidance, but returns its original over time, which is clinically acceptable.

Evaluation of Mandibular Condylar Changes in Patients Following Orthognathic Surgery: A Retrospective Study

BACKGROUND Condylar resorption as a cause of relapse after orthognathic surgery is well known. Several authors have presented evidence of the relation between orthognathic surgery and condylar remodeling and resorption. This study was done to appraise the condylar changes along with the form and function following orthognathic surgery, as well as to assess what factors may have contributed to t...
